The idea of a staring contest is to stare at another person as long as possible without blinking and the one who blinks loses the game. So to see who wins one must stare at their opponent's eyes to make sure they remain open during the game. I feel this has a strong relationship with visual art and the act of looking. The game for me is the process and idea in which the artist formulated their piece. In these staring contests I have eliminated any chance of my opponent (my audience) to win or lose. My game is fixed within these stationary images. All one can do is enjoy the aesthetics or frustrate themselves about the idea of playing into my game. 2005
