This is a dance I made with a Dan Flavin Sculpture called "for Barnett Newman". The dance consists of a set of still images that create movement through edited sequences. Although the poses are spontaneous and without any conscious meaning, Flavin's sculpture juxtaposes its own meaning collaboratively. The dance I have created further investigates Flavin's homage to Newman by exploring and occupying the open space in and around his work. Therefore a new collaborative work is created by these three juxtapositions, Flavin’s sculpture, Newman’s presence in the work, and my dance. 2007
